Uruguayan flag airline planned by investment group AVIATOR Uruguayan flag airline planned by investment group

An investment group seeks to create a 100% private Uruguayan flag carrier, which will be presented to Dirección Nacional de Aviación Civil e Infraestructura Aeronáutica (Dinacia) in February 2024.

Interim Minister of Public Works, Juan José Olaizola, has confirmed an initial meeting already took place in 2H 2023, and a positive decision would be fundamental to optimize air connectivity and support tourism.

He did not name the group, but indicated that the eventual completion of the project coincides with the development of the National Airport System.

The planned airline arrives at a time when multiple international airlines are opening up routes to Uruguay or increasing frequencies on existing routes.
